Activists from the You Reek campaign tossed garbage bags in front of Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouk's Beirut residence Thursday, calling for his resignation over the ongoing waste management crisis. According to the campaign’s Facebook page, its activists - who have organized several demonstrations over the government’s response to the near month-long crisis -tossed blue garbage bags in front of the minister's home. Posters were plastered onto the bags, with one showing an illustration of Machnouk's face. The symbolic move comes hours after an inefficient Cabinet meeting failed to reach a decision on any issue - including the trash crisis - during its weekly session. Officials and citizens criticized the ministers' failure to find a solution to the crisis, which has seen garbage piling up across the country.
