BEIRUT: The army arrested 15 Syrians in north Lebanon, state media reported.

The National News Agency said that the military raided Syrian encampments in the town of Kfar Sghab in the northern district of Zgharta, arresting the 15 individuals.

They were detained for not possessing proper entry or residency documentation.

The raid was part of a crackdown on unregistered or undocumented refugees in Lebanon.

There are 1.03 million Syrian refugees officially registered with the UNHCR in Lebanon, but the Lebanese government estimates the number to be much higher
