The Internal Security Forces has arrested a man suspected of forging, stealing and trafficking antiques.
After an extensive investigation, the ISF’s Theft Division arrested a Syrian national, identified as A.J., and born in 1985, for forging antiques and selling them as an original in the Zalqa neighborhood of Nahr al-Mawt in Mount Lebanon.
At the time of his arrest, he was attempting to sell a colored stone sculpture of a king’s head, measured 40 cm long and 25 cm wide, for $120,000.
A.J. reportedly confessed to the crime under investigation, when he told the ISF the sculpture was at his house. Experts analyzed it and concluded that it was a forgery.
