Protesters demonstrated in Downtown Beirut against the newly approved tax increases.

Around 11 a.m. demonstrators blocked the road near Parliament and Beirut Municipality on Weygand Street.

The protest was called for by a number of parties including Shaab Movement, Kataeb Party, Lebanese Communist Party and a number of civil society organizations.

The protesters demanded a raise to the minimum wage among other financial reforms, while denouncing the newly approved taxes. The demonstration was held under the slogan of ""Our silence is a tax.""
