Hundreds of residents in Tyre took to the streets, gathering in front of the Tyre municipality to protest severe electricity rationing, the state-run National News Agency reported. “Why has Tyre been suffering from a diminished supply of electricity since the month of Ramadan?” a statement issued by the protesters read. Protesters blamed the Energy Ministry for the shortages, saying it is “responsible for the electricity distribution policy and the lack of electricity in Tyre.” The protesters said if improvements are not made within 48 hours, they will escalate their protests.
