Beirut airport security confiscates 20,000 Captagon pills hidden in tea tins

Airport security at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International has thwarted an attempt to smuggle abroad some 20,000 Captagon pills hidden in tins of loose leaf tea, a statement from the Internal Security Forces reported Saturday.

The smuggler, identified as Syrian national Aa.Q., born in 1990, was arrested Thursday while attempting to travel on a Middle East Airlines flight with the pills hidden in his luggage.

The suspect was referred to the Judicial Police along with the confiscated pills.
