Heavy gunfire erupted in south Lebanon's Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, as supporters of Islamist Bilal Badr opened fire on joint security forces.

Badr was wanted for his role in leading a nearly week long battle against Palestinian factions in April. He was thought to be hiding out in the Al-Tiri neighborhood of the camp.

His supporters lobbed a grenade and fired at the security forces command building, resulting in the injury of three members of the joint force - Ismail Abu Jamous, Rawhi Salama and Abdul Juma. The wounded were taken to the Al-Nidaa al-Insani Hospital in the camp.

Eleven (11) injuries were reported. Media also reported that son of Bilal Aarqoub was killed, while other media allegedly reported that Bilal Aarqoub and his other son were injured.

Communications were opened immediately between relevant Palestinian authorities in an attempt to prevent further escalation.
